Welcome to Merritt

Dan Albas, MP Okanagan-Coquihalla

On behalf of the Government of Canada, I offer a warm welcome to everyone attending the
Second Annual Great Canadian Bike Rally in Merritt, BC!

Merritt is a special town in one of the most beautiful valleys in BC. The scenery is unbelievable. The town is rich in history, the hospitality; legendary. Take some time to explore the area; the murals, the specialty shops, the museums.

Behind the scenes of this event are organizers that seriously know how to have fun. They put on an amazing event last year, and many of you have come back to see what’s in store this year.

Enjoy your stay in Merritt, and come again soon!

Sincerely,

Dan Albas, MP
Okanagan-Coquihalla

Mayor's Welcome

On behalf of Council, myself and the residents and businesses of Merritt, we welcome you to the 2nd Annual Great Canadian Bike Rally.

I know many of you have been looking forward to this year's event after attending last year.  And the word has spread, so Merritt is looking forward to hosting many more participants and visitors to the rally in 2012.

Last year's rally was truly an uplifting experience for our Community, our residents enjoyed the busy streets, the friendly visitors and even attended all the evening music performances.  They encouraged the organizers to continue on with the rally, so this experience could be enjoyed again and we are so happy that you have returned to be a part of it with us. And if this is your first time, hang onto your hats, or helmets for a truly worthwhile experience.

The event organizers have been busy putting together a fun filled weekend with many activities to keep you busy and entertained, and the City of Merritt has been working closely with them to ensure your experience is a safe and memorable experience that will keep you coming back.

Please take some time to enjoy some of our amenities, which include many great parks, an aquatic centre, golf course, heritage walk, Country Music artists murals, Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame and of course the famous Walk of Stars.  You will find our climate enjoyable with plenty of sunshine and cooler nights, true to our semi-arid desert system.

We hope you enjoy your time in our City, and we look forward to you coming back or perhaps even considering making Merritt your next home.

Susan Roline, Mayor
City of Merritt
